Cambridgeshire Lupus Group was formed in 1992 as a regional group of the national charity LUPUS UK. Our purpose is to give a local point of contact to help, support and give general advice to people with Systemic, Cutaneous and Discoid Lupus (and associated conditions).
Our group has members and supporters from throughout Cambridgeshire and the surrounding counties. You do not have to live in Cambridgeshire to be part of our group.
We aim to keep our members and supporters informed and educated about lupus and the latest developments in its treatment etc, so we arrange information events with speakers on lupus related topics, publish our own local newsletter (you can download a copy of the latest issue here) and run local support meetings (see our support page) as well as maintaining this website.
We work with the general public and health professionals to increase awareness of lupus and the impact it can have on those living with the disease. We are always willing to give talks to other organisations and groups to help explain what lupus is and the effect it can have on those who live with it.
All our committee members are volunteers and give their time freely, but we rely heavily on donations to cover the running costs of the group (newsletter printing, stationery, postage etc.) so we are very grateful to all those who fundraise for us. We also help to support the young person’s lupus group at Addenbrooke’s hospital.
We have strong links with Addenbrooke’s, Hinchingbrooke and Peterborough hospitals and work closely with the lupus medical teams and research departments. We are also extremely proud to have a LUPUS UK funded specialist nurse at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.
We are a very friendly, welcoming group and we all have personal experience of lupus so please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions, queries or concerns – we will always try to help or point you in the right direction.
Details of local meetings and events can be found on our events page.
